Forum: texts Subject: questions about open source books project

I would like to help archive a category of book that (I’m afraid) would probably come and go without a copy being saved for the future.... subculture zines! Would these be part of the open source books project?

Another question: copyright, a lot of the time the authors of zines intend them for free use and copying ect, if this is stated in the material is it ok to upload them to archive.org? If it is not and I contact the authors to get their go ahead is it ok? Sorry if this is a repeat message or if this info is in a FAQ.

thanks
-Aaron

We would love to see more culture saved, as long as the authors dont object.

are these zines on the web? if so, then we might make sure they are in the web collection and make a special page that points them out.

if they are physical items, then they need to be scanned. we are getting ready to be able to accept scans and handle the workflow for catalogging, but not there yet.

whichever way we are interested.
